The Saw Doctors debut at No1 on this week’s Singles Chart with ‘About You Now’, with a massive 90% of the sales made in their home county – Galway. Their version of the Sugababes 2007 hit is the 17th in a sequence of hit singles for them that stretches back 18 years and it’s their third No1, following ‘I Useta Love Her’ (1990) and ‘Hay Wrap’ (1991).
Pink dips to No2 after two weeks on top with ‘So What’, ahead of Kings Of Leon who slip to No3. Two of last week’s new entries leap 10 places into this week’s Top 10: Snow Patrol up from No14 to No4 with ‘Take Back The City’, propelled by the release of the CD version, and The Killers up from No17 to No7 with ‘Human’. 2007 X-Factor winner Leon Jackson has this week’s highest new entry at No8 with ‘Don’t Call This Love’, his first release since ‘When You Believe’ which spent three weeks at No1 last Christmas on the back of his win. There’s no change at the top of the Album Chart this week, with Kings Of Leon at No1 with ‘Only By The Night’ for a fourth week and Oasis holding at No2 with ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ for a second week. Boyzone have this week’s highest new entry at No3 with ‘Back Again…No Matter What’, an album of greatest hits plus 2 new tracks. Their three studio albums and ‘Best Of’ compilation all made it to the top in the 1990’s. Keane have the next new entry at No4 with their third album ‘Perfect Symmetry’, just below their previous debuts: ‘Hopes And Fears’ came in at No3 in 2004 and ‘Under The Iron Sea’ entered the chart at No1 in 2006.
