Having debuted at No1 two weeks ago and then dipped to No2 last week, The Priests return to the top this week despite a challenge from a brace of Circuses…..Britney Spears enters at No2 with ‘Circus’ and Take That debut at No3 with ‘The Circus’.
For Britney it’s her sixth studio album and of the previous five only ‘Blackout’ opened higher, debuting at No1 in November last year. As for Take That, two of their previous four studio albums made it to the top in Ireland: ‘Nobody Else’ in 1995 and ‘Beautiful World’ in 2007. Leona Lewis holds at No4 for a second week with ‘Spirit’, one place ahead of The Killers who drop to No5 after debuting at No1 last week with ‘Day & Age’. Leona Lewis extends her ‘Run’ at the top of the Singles Chart to three weeks, while Beyoncé takes a fourth consecutive week at No2 with ‘If I Were A Boy’. Take That climb three places to No3 with ‘Greatest Day’ and Britney holds at No4 with ‘Womanizer’ – and she also has this week’s highest new entry with the title track of her new album ‘Circus’ at No17. The only other significant mover in this week’s Top 20 is The Pogues’ perennial Christmas favourite ‘Fairytale Of New York’, up from No33 to No16.
