Take That - The Main Attraction

After debuting at No3 on the Album Chart last week, Take That climb to the top this week with ‘The Circus’. Their previous album ‘Beautiful World’ took three months to achieve the same feat, after entering the chart at No9 in November 2006.

Meanwhile The Priests drop back to No2, ahead of Leona Lewis’ ‘Spirit’ which climbs from No4 to No3 and Britney’s ‘Circus’, down from No2 to No4. As is typical at this time of the year, the remainder of the Top 20 is very stable, as all the key releases are already on the shelves and the flow of new releases dries up for a few weeks. Leona Lewis takes a fourth week at No1 on the Singles Chart with downloads of ‘Run’, ahead of Take That’s ‘Greatest Day’ at No2, Britney’s ‘Womanizer’ at No3 and Beyoncé’s ‘If I Were A Boy’ at No4. Kings Of Leon climb into this week’s Top 10, up from No14 to No6 with the CD and 7” release of ‘Use Somebody’, having hovered in the lower reaches of the chart for several weeks on the strength of downloads. With Christmas just two weeks away, festive classics are starting to make an impact on the chart: The Pogues ‘Fairytale Of New York’ at No11, Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ at No17, Band Aid’s ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ at No33 and Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’ at No34.
