U2 Stomp To The Top

In anticipation of their long awaited new studio album, the first since 2004’s ‘How To Dismantle An Atom Bomb’, U2 take their debut single from the album straight to the top of this week’s Singles Chart. ‘Get On Your Boots’ is their first single to get to No1 since their collaboration with Green Day - ‘The Saints Are Coming’ – topped the Chart for one week in 2006

Despite losing her place at the top Lady GaGa occupies the next two slots in the Chart as ‘Poker Face’ holds steady at No2 and ‘Just Dance’ drops from No1 to No3. Flo Rida also sees a track from his forthcoming album hit this week’s Top 10 as ‘Right Round (ft Ke$ha) ‘ enters the Chart at No4 on download only – a better first week showing than his huge hit of 2008 – ‘Low’- which entered the Chart at No48 but went on to reach the top of the Chart and spend 16 weeks in the Top 10. Lady GaGa holds on to a second week at top of this week’s Album Chart with ‘The Fame’ while Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Working On A Dream’ also holds steady at No2. Bette Midler’s ‘The Best Bette’ makes it into the Top 10 for the first time moving up from last week’s No12 to No4. This week’s highest new entry belongs to Morrissey as his new studio album ‘Years Of Refusal’ enters the Chart at No12 – not quite a match for 2004’s ‘You Are The Quarry’ or 2006’s ‘Ringleader Of The Tormentors’ which both debuted at No3
