Final Fantasy X-2 makes chart-topping debut

There is only one major new release this week and it debuts at No1 – Square Enix’s ‘Final Fantasy X-2’ on PS2 is the 5th version to be released in the UK and the first to be published via EA (chronologically speaking, this series debuted with FF VII back in November 1997).

In terms of week 1 sell-through, this version has outperformed the previous best-seller FF VIII which was released on PS1 in October 1999. Sega’s ‘Sonic Heroes’ (PS2/GC/XB) is now No2 after a 2-week spell at the top, followed at No3 by EA’s ‘Need For Speed: Underground’ (PS2/XB/GC/GBA/PC). Vivendi’s ‘The Simpsons: Hit & Run’ (PS2/XB/GC/PC) remains at No4 and Symantec take No5 with ‘Norton Internet Security 2004’ for PC. EA take No’s 6 & 7 with ‘FIFA 2004’ (PS2/PS1/XB/GC/GBA/PC/N-G) and ‘Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King’ (PS2/XB/GC/GBA/PC). Ubisoft climb 31 places to No8 thanks to the injection of 2 new versions of ‘Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time’ on Xbox and Gamecube, joining the Christmas released PS2 and PC versions.
