Christy Moore wins the battle of the troubadours this week, holding on to the top spot on the Album Chart for a second week with ‘Listen’, ahead of label-mate Bob Dylan’s new entry ‘Together Through Life’ at No2. This is Dylan’s 33rd studio album and his first since ‘Modern Times’ which debuted at No1 in 2006.
Lady Gaga’s ‘The Fame’ dips out of the Top 2 for the first time in three months, down to No3 this week, but heading a quartet of female soloists with Pink, Beyoncé and Lily Allen at No4, No5 and No6 respectively. Jerry Fish & The Mudbug Club have the next new entry at No7 with their second studio album ‘The Beautiful Untrue’ – way ahead of their first album ‘Be Yourself’ which was released in 2002 and peaked at No29 the following year. Less than 200 sales separate the Top 4 singles this week, but it’s Lady Gaga who climbs back to the top of the pile with ‘Poker Face’ after a seven week break, during which time she never dropped out of the Top3. A.R. Rahman & The Pussycat Dolls hold steady at No2 with ‘Jai Ho!’ ahead of Eminem who drops to No3 after one week at No1 with ‘We Made You’ and Ciara at No4 with ‘Love Sex Magic’ (feat. Justin Timberlake), up from No7. Tinchy Stryder has this week’s highest new entry at No8 with ‘Number 1’ (feat. N-Dubz), his second appearance this year on this chart following ‘Take Me Back’ which reached No16 back in February. Green Day narrowly miss out on the Top10 this week, up from No22 to No11 with ‘Know Your Enemy’, the first single from their forthcoming ‘21st Century Breakdown’ album.
