After debuting at No8 last week, Tinchy Stryder and N-Dubz leap to No1 on the Singles Chart this week with the aptly-titled ‘Number 1’, deposing Lady Gaga who drops back to No2 with ‘Poker Face’.
A.R. Rahman & The Pussycat Dolls drop to No3 with ‘Jai Ho!’ ahead of Calvin Harris at No4 and U2 who have the highest new entry at No5 with ‘Magnificent’, the second single to be taken from ‘No Line On The Horizon’. The next new entry is at No15 for Irish Eurovision hopefuls Sinead Mulvey & Black Daisy with ‘Et Cetera’ – they need to reach No5 to match the chart performance of last year’s entry ‘Irelande Douze Points’ by Dustin. Christy Moore takes a third week at No1 on the Album Chart with ‘Listen’, heading a Top 4 unchanged from last week – Dylan at No2, Lady Gaga at No3 and Pink at No4. Ciara has this week’s highest new entry at No10 with her third album ‘Fantasy Ride’, outperforming her first album ‘Goodies’ which peaked at No36 in 2005 and the follow-up ‘Evolution’ which made No29 two years later. The only other new entry in this week’s Top 30 is for Dublin blues-rockers The Riptide Movement, whose independently-released ‘What About The Tip Jars?’ debuts impressively at No16.
