Easy Peasy

Black Eyed Peas coast to a twelfth week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘I Gotta Feeling’ – and the nearest contenders Shakira & David Guetta aren’t even close. This is now the third longest stay at the top of the Singles Chart in Irish chart history behind Bill Whelan’s ‘Riverdance’ (18 weeks) and ROI Soccer Squad’s ‘Put ‘Em Under Pressure’ (13 weeks).

With the Top 5 unchanged since last week, this week’s highest new entry is at No7 for teenage rapper Chipmunk with ‘Oopsy Daisy’ – his first Irish hit, although ‘Diamond Rings’ just missed out on a Top 50 placing back in July. The Saturdays have the next new entry at No9 with ‘Forever Is Over’, their fifth hit single in less than a year. Their debut single ‘If This Is Love’ failed to chart, but their hit-rate since then is 100%. Madonna regains her Album Chart crown this week, as ‘Celebration’ climbs back to No1 ahead of Paramore, whose ‘Brand New Eyes’ slips to No2 after a week on top. Tiesto has this week’s highest new entry at No5 with ‘Kaleidoscope’, matching his previous best – No5 for ‘Elements Of Life’ back in April 2007. After debuting at No25 last week, Sharon Shannon leaps 19 places to No6 with ‘Saints & Scoundrels’, an album of new songs recorded with special guests including Imelda May and Shane MacGowan.
