Black Eyed Peas’ reign at the top of the Singles Chart is finally over, as Alexandra Burke debuts at No1 with her second single ‘Bad Boys’ (feat. Flo Rida). In the process she accumulates the highest weekly sales tally since her previous release ‘Hallelujah’, which spent four weeks at the top following her X-Factor victory in December 2008.
In a major shake-up of the chart this week, there are three further new entries in the Top 10: Robbie Williams is at No3 with ‘Bodies’ (his 26th solo hit in Ireland), Miley Cyrus is at No5 with ‘Party In The U.S.A.’ (her highest placing yet from seven hits) and Michael Bublé is at No10 with ‘Haven’t Met You Yet’ (the lead single from his forthcoming ‘Crazy Love’ album). The Album Chart faces similar upheaval this week, with Shakira debuting at No1 with her third English language studio album ‘She Wolf’. This is her first Irish No1 album, with both previous studio albums peaking at No2 – ‘Laundry Service’ in March 2002 and ‘Oral Fixation Vol 2’ in June 2006. Dublin’s Delorentos have the next new entry at No2 with their second album ‘You Can Make Sound’, ahead of their No7 debut for ‘In Love With Detail’, and Editors have the third new entry at No4 with ‘In This Light And On This Evening’, again, ahead of the No7 debut for their previous album ‘An End Has A Start’ two years ago. Finally, in the wake of Stephen Gately’s tragic death last weekend, Boyzone’s compilation album ‘Back Again…No Matter What’ returns to the chart at No8.
