Still Goo Goo Over Gaga

11/Dec/2009

Lady Gaga approaches the end of the year as she started it – riding high at the top of the Singles Chart. ‘Bad Romance’ is her third Irish No1 following ‘Just Dance’ and ‘Poker Face’, and her climb from No3 to No1 this week was no doubt assisted by her high profile appearance on Sunday night’s X Factor.

Black Eyed Peas are still chasing their fifth Irish No1, holding at No2 for a fifth consecutive week with ‘Meet Me Halfway’, ahead of last week’s No1 The X-Factor Finalists who drop to No3 after three weeks at the top with ‘You Are Not Alone’.  Frantic Jack have this week’s highest new entry at No20 with their independently-released ‘Free’, their second Irish hit single following ‘Firefly’ which reached No23 six weeks ago.

Susan Boyle continues to dominate the Album Chart, taking a third week at No1 with ‘I  Dreamed A Dream’ and outselling her nearest rivals by more than 2:1.  With Westlife’s ‘Where We Are’ rooted at No2, Lady Gaga climbs three places to No3 with ‘The Fame’ and Black Eyed Peas hold steady at No4 with ‘The E.N.D.’.  Most of this year’s ‘big-hitters’ have now been released and the highest new entry this week is at No26 for Tommy Fleming’s ‘Song For A Winter’s Night’ – his follow-up to ‘The Best Is Yet To Come’ which reached No5 in February earlier this year.
