Boyzone debut at No1 on this week’s Singles Chart with ‘Gave It All Away’, their 20th Irish hit single and their ninth Irish No1. Written by Mika and featuring lead vocals from Ronan Keating and the late Stephen Gately, this is the first release from their forthcoming studio album ‘Brother’.
Jedward & Vanilla Ice drop to No2 after two weeks on top with ‘Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)’, ahead of Rihanna who climbs from No6 to No3 with ‘Rude Boy’. Justin Bieber has this week’s highest new entry at No10 with ‘Baby’ (feat. Ludacris), beating his previous best ‘One Time’ which peaked at No31. Black Eyed Peas return to the chart with ‘Rock That Body’, up from No34 to No11 – their follow up to ‘I Gotta Feeling’ which was the second best selling single of 2009 in Ireland (behind Joe McElderry’s ‘The Climb’).
There’s no change at the top of the Album Chart this week with The Glee Cast taking a third week at No1 with ‘Glee – The Music: Vol 1’, ahead of Paolo Nutini at No2 and Florence & The Machine at No3. With two Top 5 singles under his belt, Miami R&B singer-songwriter Jason Derülo has this week’s highest new entry at No10 with his self-titled debut album. Ellie Goulding has the next new entry at No12 with her debut ‘Lights’, fulfilling expectations raised by her recent ‘BBC Sound of 2010’ and ‘Brits Critics Choice’ awards.
