AC/DC Rock On

AC/DC make it three weeks in a row at No1 on the Album Chart with the ‘Iron Man 2’ soundtrack – the first rock album to take three weeks at the top since Kings of Leon’s ‘Only By The Night’ back in October 2008 (which was deposed by AC/DC’s ‘Black Ice’ after four weeks at No1).

With her debut single ‘Once’ still in the Top10 after 3 weeks, X Factor semi-finalist Diana Vickers has this week’s highest Album Chart new entry at No7 with her debut ‘Songs From the Tainted Cherry Tree’.  Similarly, Lady Antebellum follow up a debut hit single with a strong new entry on the Album Chart for ‘Need You Now’, new at No12.

Usher takes a second week at No1 on the Singles Chart this week with ‘OMG’ (feat., with a narrow lead over Train who climb from No4 to No2 after eight weeks in the chart with ‘Hey, Soul Sister’.  Lady Antebellum follow at No3 with ‘Need You Now’, up fifteen places from last week’s No18 debut.  Mika and RedOne have this week’s highest new entry at No8 with ‘Kick Ass (We Are Young)’, the title track from the movie and Mika’s seventh Irish hit single.  The Glee Cast have the next new entry at No14 with ‘Total Eclipse Of The Heart’, the fourth version of this song to chart in Ireland: Bonnie Tyler’s original version made No1 in 1983, Nicki French’s cover reached No15 in 1995 and Jan Wayne took his version to No24 in 2003.
