Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina take a second week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘Stereo Love’, but Germany’s winning Eurovision entry ‘Satellite’ performed by Lena follows at No2 just eleven sales behind - matching the No2 debut for last year’s winner from Norway, Alexander Rybak’s ‘Fairytale’.
The last Eurovision song to make No1 in Ireland was Niamh Kavanagh’s ‘In Your Eyes’ which spent 5 weeks at the top in 1993: her 2010 offering ‘It’s For You’ climbs from No20 to No8 in this week’s chart, despite finishing a disappointing 23rd place last Saturday. Miley Cyrus has a new entry at No5 with ‘Can’t Be Tamed’, the title track from her forthcoming third album and her eighth Irish hit single. Norwegian duo Madcon have the third new entry at No12 with ‘Glow’, as performed on Eurovision, their second hit single following ‘Beggin’ which reached No8 two years ago.
The Glee Cast take a second week at No1 on the Album Chart with ‘Glee – The Music: Vol 3’, ahead of Lady Gaga who climbs back to No2 with ‘The Fame’. The Divine Comedy have this week’s highest new entry at No8 with their independently-released tenth studio album ‘Bang Goes The Knighthood’ – an improvement on the No22 debut for the previous release ‘Victory For The Comic Muse’ four years ago. The only other new entry in the Top 20 this week is for Jack Johnson with ‘By The Sea’ at No15, his third Top 20 album in Ireland following ‘In Between Dreams’ which made No4 in 2005 and ‘Sleep Through the Static’ which spent two weeks at No1 in 2008.
