Stereo Love Is All Around

11/Jun/2010

Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina take a third consecutive week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘Stereo Love’, but after last week’s close contest for the top spot the nearest challenger this week trails by 1,000 sales – Usher up from No7 to No2 with OMG (feat will.i.am).

Tinie Tempah scoops this week’s highest new entry with his second release ‘Frisky’ (feat. Labrinth) new at No3, improving on his debut ‘Pass Out’ which reached No6 earlier this year.  Ahead of today’s opening game, The World Cup begins to make an impact on the chart this week, with K’Naan’s football anthem ‘Wavin’ Flag’ up from No23 to No13.  Lady Gaga scores another hit this week with ‘Alejandro’ new at No17 – her sixth Irish Top 20 hit, including four No1’s.

As with the Singles Chart, there’s no change at the top of the Album Chart for a third consecutive week with ‘Glee – The Music: Vol 3’ outselling the chasing pack by a hefty margin. Christina Aguilera has this week’s highest new entry at No4 with her fourth studio album in eleven years ‘Bionic’.  Her first two albums debuted outside the Top 20, but her third album ‘Back To Basics’ entered the chart at No1 in 2006.  The only other new entry in this week’s Top 20 is for The Glee Cast with their latest 6-track EP release ‘Journey To Regionals’ at No14 on the strength of downloads ahead of today’s physical release – giving them an impressive tally of five albums in this week’s Top 30.
