Stellar Orbit For Planet Jedward

23/Jul/2010

Six months after the release of their No1 debut single ‘Ice Ice Baby’, Jedward launch their first album ‘Planet Jedward’ and land at No1 on this week’s Album Chart. In the process they record the fastest-selling artist album in Ireland since U2’s ‘No Line On the Horizon’ back in March 2009 – and the fastest-selling debut by an Irish artist since Westlife’s self-titled first album in 1999.

Eminem’s ‘Recovery’ slips one place to No2 after four weeks on top, ahead of Florence & The Machine at No3 and Mumford & Sons at No4.  Hot on the heels of two Top 20 singles, London rapper Professor Green has the next new entry at No18 with his debut album ‘Alive Till I’m Dead’.

As consolation for losing the Album Chart crown, Eminem climbs to No1 on this week’s Singles Chart with ‘Love The Way You Lie’ (feat. Rihanna) – his seventh Irish No1 single.  Katy Perry drops one place to No2 with ‘California Gurls’ (feat. Snoop Dogg), chased at No3 by Yolanda Be Cool vs D Cup with ‘We No Speak Americano’.  Rising star Eliza Doolittle climbs eight places from No14 to No6 with ‘Pack Up’ to claim her first Irish Top 10 hit – her debut release ‘Skinny Genes’ failed to dent the Top 40.  Finally, capping a successful week for the dynamic duo, Jedward have this week’s highest new entry at No21 with ‘All The Small Things’.
