Fired Up

It’s all change at the top of the charts this week as Arcade Fire go straight to the summit of the Album Chart with their third studio release ‘The Suburbs’. echoing the performance of 2007’s ‘Neon Bible’ which also claimed the top spot in its first week.

They are the only new entry this week in an otherwise steady chart with the rest of last week’s Top 5 each dropping one place: Jedward’s ‘Planet Jedward’ lands at No2, Eminem occupies No 3 with ‘Recovery’ while Mumford & Sons and Florence & The Machine settle at the No4 & No5 slots respectively. Leonard Cohen benefits from the Irish leg of his current tour as his ‘Greatest Hits’ re-enters the 30 at No 22, ‘The Essential’ comes back in at No30 and ‘Live In London’ slips in at No72.

Flo Rida feat. David Guetta steps up to No1 in this week’s Singles Chart from last week’s No4 with ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ pushing Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup’s ‘We No Speak Americano’ down to No2. This gives the American rapper his third Irish No1 – ‘Low (feat. T-Pain) topped the chart for a week in 2008 while ‘Right Round (feat Ke$ha)’  had three week’s at the top in 2009 although he also made an appearance on Alexandra Burke’s ‘Bad Boys’ chart topper in 2009. Eminem feat. Rihanna are a non mover with ‘Love The Way You Lie’ completing the Top 3. Ne-Yo is the only new entry into this week’s Top 10 as ‘Beautuful Monster’ , the first single from his forthcoming album, is this week’s highest climber moving from No41 to No9.
