Les Miz Does The Biz

The motion picture cast recording of ‘Les Miserables’ climbs one place to claim the No1 spot on this week’s Album Chart – the first movie soundtrack to top this chart since AC/DC’s ‘Iron Man 2’ in 2010. Meanwhile the original 1985 London Cast version leaps thirty nine places from No71 to No32 – the first time it’s been in the Top 50 since 1999. more


Villagers Land Second Number 1

Nearly three years after their acclaimed debut ‘Becoming A Jackal’ arrived at No1 on the Album Chart in May 2010, Conor O’Brien’s Villagers repeat the feat this week with their follow-up ‘{Awayland}’ – the first Irish artist to top this chart since The Script (#3) back in September last year. more


Bowie’s Back

In another quiet week for new releases on the Singles Chart, the big news of the week was the surprise release on Tuesday of a brand new song from David Bowie – ‘Where Are We Now?’ – which debuts at No9. This is his first new material in ten years and his first appearance on this chart since 1997 when ‘Little Wonder’ reached No27 – although the last time he featured in the Irish Top 10 was back in 1986 when ‘Underground’ peaked at No6. more


Happy New Year for Ed

The first Album Chart of 2013 sees a return to No1 for Ed Sheeran’s ‘+’ – its third week at the top since release in September 2011. Over this 16 month period, ‘+’ has never dropped lower than No17 and has spent an impressive 60 weeks in the Top 10. more
