Five In A Row For Westlife

With the Top 5 unchanged from last week, Westlife make it five weeks at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘You Raise Me Up’, ahead of Madonna, Black Eyed Peas, Dustin and Pussycat Dolls. more


Mario & Westlife Block Madonna’s Number 1 Ambition

Despite stronger first week sales for ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor’ than for any of her albums in the past 15 years, Madonna has to make do with a No3 debut on this week’s Album Chart in the face of strong local competition. This is an improvement on the No7 debut for 2003’s ‘American Life’, but lower than the opening positions for GHV2 (No2 in 2001), Music (No1 in 2000) and ‘Ray Of Light’ (No2 in 1998). more


Super Mario

On his sixth attempt, Mario Rosenstock finally hits the No1 spot on the Album Chart with ‘Gift Grub 6 – The Special One’ living up to its name, (Numbers 4 and 5 in the series stalled at No2 in 2003 and 2004 respectively). This is the first comedy album to reach the top since Dustin’s ‘Faith Of Our Feathers’ spent four weeks at No1 in December 1997. more


Westlife Double-Header

For the past 7 years Westlife have released an album every November: this year’s offering ‘Face To Face’ continues the tradition and matches the success of most of its predecessors by debuting at No1. ‘Westlife’, ‘Coast To Coast’, ‘World Of Our Own’ and ‘Turnaround’ all debuted at No1, whereas ‘Unbreakable – The Greatest Hits’ and ‘Allow Us To Be Frank’ both debuted at No2 (although ‘Unbreakable’ went on to climb to the top spot). more
