Band Aid make it five weeks at No. 1

Band Aid 20's 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' remains at the top of the Singles Chart this week making it one of only three releases this year to spend five weeks at No1 - the other two were Kelis' 'Milkshake' and Britney Spears' 'Everytime'. Jay-Z and Linkin Park's 'Numb/Encore' also holds its position at No2 whilst Green Day's 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' climbs a place to No3.

Do They Know It's The Christmas No. 1

Band Aid 20's 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' holds for a fourth week at the top of the Singles Chart to claim this year's Christmas No1. In each week since release, Band Aid 20 has accounted for one in three of all singles sold in Ireland, and in the process tops the 2004 best-seller chart. Jay-Z and Linkin Park's 'Numb/Encore' is a non-mover at No2, ditto Girls Aloud's 'I'll Stand By You' at No3. The X Factor winner Steve Brookstein has this week's only Top 40 new entry at No11 with 'Against All Odds' - failing to match Mariah Carey and Westlife's cover of the same Phil Collins song, which debuted at No1 in September 2000.

The rise of Il Divo

U2 make it four weeks at the top of the Albums chart with 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb', ahead of Il Divo who rocket from No19 last week to No2, aided by Friday's Late Late Show performance. Mario Rosenstock's 'Gift Grub 2004' falls one place to No3, followed at No4 and No5 by 'Greatest Hits' from Britney Spears and Robbie Williams respectively.

Sales surge for Band Aid

Band Aid 20's 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' takes a second week at the top of the Singles Chart, with sales increasing 30% over last week and accounting for one in three of all singles sold in Ireland this week. Destiny's Child's 'Lose My Breath' holds at No2 for a second week, still ahead of Girls Aloud's 'I'll Stand By You' at No3. Kylie Minogue has this week's highest new entry at No9 with 'Believe In You'.

Band Aid Number One.....again.

As expected the 20th anniversary release of Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's Christmas' storms into the singles chart at No1 with the highest first week's sales since Mickey Harte's 'We've Got The World' in May 2003.
