As the year draws to a close the Official Christmas No1 Single is revealed and spells three in a row for the X-Factor. This year’s winner, Alexandra Burke, repeats the achievements of the previous two X-Factor victors and takes the coveted Christmas crown, as she holds onto the top spot with ‘Hallelujah’ for a second week. In the process she achieves the highest sales for a Christmas single in recent times as well as the second highest selling single of the year behind Sharon Shannon & Mundy’s ‘The Galway Girl’. more


X Marks The No1 Spot

X Factor winner Alexandra Burke takes her version of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ straight to the top of the Singles Chart this week, well placed to take the Official Irish Christmas No1 spot (to be revealed next Wednesday 24th). She follows in the footsteps of Leona Lewis and Leon Jackson who achieved the same feat after winning the competition in 2006 and 2007 respectively. more


Take That - The Main Attraction

After debuting at No3 on the Album Chart last week, Take That climb to the top this week with ‘The Circus’. Their previous album ‘Beautiful World’ took three months to achieve the same feat, after entering the chart at No9 in November 2006. more


Big Top Three

Having debuted at No1 two weeks ago and then dipped to No2 last week, The Priests return to the top this week despite a challenge from a brace of Circuses…..Britney Spears enters at No2 with ‘Circus’ and Take That debut at No3 with ‘The Circus’. more
