In the final weekly chart of 2009 Joe McElderry takes a third week at No1 with ‘The Climb’, and in the process he overtakes Black Eyed Peas ‘I Gotta Feeling’ to claim the top-selling single of the year in Ireland by a margin of 6,000 sales. more


Joe Gets The X-mas Factor

Joe McElderry holds at No1 on the Singles Chart for a second week with ‘The Climb’, extending his lead over the nearest challenger to more than 20,000 sales to claim this year’s Irish Christmas No1. In the process he sells more singles this week than any artist since Six ‘There's A Whole Lot Of Loving Going On’ back in 2002. more

Joe McElderry lands at No1 on this week’s Singles Chart with ‘The Climb’ - a fifth consecutive No1 for the winner of ITV’s The X Factor, in the footsteps of Shane Ward, Leona Lewis, Leon Jackson and Alexandra Burke. Whether Joe can hold on for the Irish Christmas No1 remains to be seen when the official chart is published on Christmas Eve. more

Boyle Foils Westlife

Susan Boyle holds onto the top spot on the Album Chart this week with ‘I Dreamed A Dream’, despite a strong challenge from Westlife who settle at No2 with ‘Where We Are’. Their debut album ‘Westlife’ was released ten years ago and they’ve now released a total of ten albums, of which seven have entered the chart at No1 and three have entered at No2, a unique achievement over the past decade. more
