James Arthur takes a third week at No1 with ‘Impossible’ on the last Singles Chart of 2012 – and over these three weeks he’s amassed sufficient sales to top the best-seller list of the year. It wasn’t until Christmas Eve that he sailed past Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ and Fun’s ‘We Are Young’ to snatch the 2012 crown. more


Another X Factor Xmas

For a seventh consecutive year the X Factor claims the Christmas No1 Singles crown in Ireland, as James Arthur follows in the footsteps of Leona Lewis, Leon Jackson, Alexandra Burke, Joe McElderry, Matt Cardle and Little Mix. His version of ‘Impossible’ is the third best-selling Christmas single since sales records began in 1992 (behind Matt Cardle and Joe McElderry). more


X Factor’s Mission Impossible

In the penultimate chart before Christmas, X Factor Series 9 winner James Arthur storms straight to the top of the Singles Chart with his cover of Shontelle’s minor 2010 hit ‘Impossible’. Unlike previous winners’ debut releases, this is a charity single (in aid of Together For Short Lives) and the opening week’s sales in Ireland are ahead of all the other eight winners except for Alexandra Burke (2008) and Matt Cardle (2010). more


Tiny Dancer – Dances On

Support for 4-year old Lily-Mae Morrison’s fight against cancer continues strongly this week as ‘Tiny Dancer – A Song For Lily-Mae’ holds on to the No1 spot on the Singles Chart for a second week. With a performance by the song’s choir and musicians scheduled for tonight’s Late Late Show, plus much local support and activity, it remains to be seen if the song can hold on at the top to take the coveted Christmas No1 prize in two week’s time. more
