Duffy Shows No Mercy

After debuting at No11 two weeks ago and jumping to No2 last week, Duffy climbs to the top of the Singles Chart this week with ‘Mercy’. However, U2, Kila, The Dubliners and ‘A Band of Bowsies’ have this week’s top-selling download with their charity collaboration ‘The Ballad Of Ronnie Drew’, coming close to debuting at No1 on the main Singles Chart ahead of the official physical release today (Fri 29th).

Amy Cleans Up

Five weeks after reaching No1 for the first time on the Album Chart, Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ returns to the top spot this week, up one place from No2 and extending her unbroken run in the Top 40 to an incredible 62 weeks.

The churn at the top of the Album Chart continues this week with Jack Johnson debuting at No1 with his fifth album ‘Sleep Through The Static’ – the sixth different chart-topper in as many weeks, but the first to be recorded with 100% solar energy! Jack’s previous best was No4 for ‘In Between Dreams’ two years ago, although all five albums have made the Irish Top 75.

The Sky’s The Limit

English singer-songwriter Tom Baxter climbs from No4 to the top of this week’s Album Chart with his second album ‘Skybound’, the follow-up to ‘Feather & Stone’ which debuted and peaked at No45 on release back in August 2004. After splitting with Sony in 2007, Tom recorded ‘Skybound’ independently for his own Sylvan label, before it was picked up by Charisma/EMI and released 3 months ago.
