Whitney Remembered

Following the televised funeral ceremony, Whitney Houston’s ‘Ultimate Collection’ rises four places to No1 on this week’s Album Chart. This compilation was originally released in November 2007, when it debuted and peaked at No6 before returning to the chart at No5 last week. With ‘The Essential’ at No8, ‘The Greatest Hits’ at No42, ‘The Collection’ at No48, ‘The Bodyguard’ soundtrack at No7 on the Compilation Chart and ‘The Bodyguard’ film at No8 on the Video Chart, Whitney’s legacy is evident. more


Emeli Awarded with No1

In December last year Emeli Sandé was announced as the winner of the BRITs Critics Choice Award for 2012, following in the footsteps of Adele (2008), Florence + The Machine (2009), Ellie Goulding (2010) and Jessie J (2011). This week she proves the critics right, debuting at No1 on the Singles Chart with her third single ‘Next To Me’ and landing at No2 on the Album Chart with her debut ‘Our Version Of Events’. more


Aussie Rules

Gotye & Kimbra take a second week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’, doubling their lead over the nearest rival to over 1,000 sales. This is the first Australian single to top the Irish Charts since Yolanda Be Cool’s ‘We No Speak Americano’ back in the summer of 2010. more


A Star Is Born

American singer-songwriter Elizabeth Grant, better known as Lana Del Rey, lands at No1 on this week’s Album Chart with ‘Born To Die’, her first album release in Europe following the success of ‘Video Games’ which launched her career world-wide. more
