The Rise Of Rihanna

As the quiet holiday period comes to an end the Singles Chart sees a rush of new entries as 11 new releases come into the Top 30 this week. Head of the pack comes the new Def Jam signing – 17 year old Bajan - Rihanna – whose debut single ‘Pon De Replay’ enters the chart at No2. A strong challenge for the No1 spot but not enough to displace Daniel Powter whose ‘Bad Day’ holds on to the top slot for a second week. more


A Good Day For Daniel

The Singles chart sees a new No1 this week as Canadian singer/songwriter Daniel Powter ends James Blunt’s reign at the top. The first single off his debut album, ‘Bad Day’ climbs to the top from last week’s No 3. 2Pac remains unshakeable at No2 with ‘Ghetto Gospel’ whilst James Blunt’s ‘You’re Beautiful’ drops to No3 more


Record Breaking Blunt

James Blunt has a record breaking week this week as both his single –‘You’re Beautiful’ and album – ‘Back To Bedlam’ stay at the top of their respective charts. This makes him the first artist to take the No1 spot on both charts for a fourth consecutive week since the official Irish Charts began. more


Oh! Another Hit For Ciara

Ciara maintains her 100% record of Top 10 debuts this week with her third single ‘Oh’ (featuring Ludacris) entering at No7, following in the footsteps of ‘Goodies’ which came in at No4 and ‘1, 2 Step’ which came in at No3 earlier this year. In addition to her solo success, she also features on Missy Elliott’s ‘Lose Control’ which holds at No18 after 5 weeks on the chart. more
