Need for Speed Most Wanted lives up to name

It’s another big week for new releases, but of the 8 new products that launched last week outside the Top 10, only one makes it through that barrier (Activision’s ‘Call Of Duty 2: Big Red One’ is up from No12 to No9, +105%). As for this week, there are a further 6 new products in the Top 40 of which two make the Top 10. No surprises at No1 as EA debut with ‘Need For Speed: Most Wanted’ (PS2/XB/GC/GBA/DS/PC), 73% of this on PS2. Harry Potter Blazes A Trail To The Top

This is a huge week for new releases – 8 brand new never seen before products – although rather strangely, all of them are outside the Top 10 for the moment. THQ wrestle No1 from Star Wars

THQ’s ‘WWE Smackdown! Vs Raw 2006’ (PS2) grabs the title belt from Lucasarts’ multi-format ‘Star Wars: Battlefront II’ (down 35% in sales from No1 to No2) to become All Formats No1 and crowned the fastest selling PS2 wrestling game (ahead of ‘WWE Smackdown! Here comes the Pain’).

Lucasarts forces GTA to take 2nd place

The force is strong this week: after last week’s broken street date Lucasarts’ ‘Star Wars: Battlefront II’ (PS2/XB/PSP/PC) is elevated from No6 to No1 All Formats Jedi Master with the PS2 version achieving the second best sales week of any Star Wars game - behind ‘Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith’ PS2 and selling almost 3 times as much at launch than its predecessor.
