EA fighting chart battle on two fronts

EA declares war on the top of the All Formats Chart this week as ‘Medal Of Honor: European Assault’ (PS2/XB/GC) advances from No2 to No1 and newcomer ‘Battlefield 2’ (PC) enters at No2 with the 8th biggest PC launch week ever (and 3rd biggest for a non-football management game, behind ‘The Sims 2’ and ‘Half-Life 2’). more

EA's assault on the charts gains silver medal

Rockstar/Take 2’s ‘Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’ (PS2 and new XB/PC last week) holds on to No1 in the All Formats Entertainment Chart, fighting off strong competition from the latest instalment in EA’s successful FPS war franchise ‘Medal of Honor: European Assault’ (PS2/XB/GC) which storms in at No2 – only 1,846 sales behind the chart leader. ‘Medal of Honor: European Assault’ achieves the 5th highest sales week of any PS2 game so far this year (topping this week’s PS2 Full Price Chart) and comes in at No2 in the Full Price Xbox Chart behind ‘San Andreas’. more

San Andreas Back On Top

Rockstar/Take 2’s ‘Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’ (PS2/XB/PC) manages to leapfrog the Star Wars double act and re-enters the Chart at No1 for the first time since week 47, 2004. more

The truth is out there! Area 51 climbs to No3

The Star Wars double act continues this week with Lucasarts’ ‘Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith’ enjoying a 2% rise in sales to keep its position at No1 for a fifth consecutive week, while Eidos/Giant Interactive’s ‘Lego Star Wars’ jumps by 68% thanks to strong TV advertising, staying at No2 but achieving its best PS2 sales week to date. Midway’s ‘Area 51’ (PS2/XB) makes its presence felt, flying from No8 to No3 in the All Formats Entertainment Chart with THQ’s ‘WWE Wrestlemania 21’ moving in the opposite direction, smacked down from No3 to No10. more
