Burnout Revenge is sweet for EA

EA’s ‘Burnout Revenge’ (PS2/XB) rockets to No1 in the All Formats Entertainment chart, taking down stablemate title ‘The Sims 2: Nightlife’ (PC) which moves over to No2. The giant US publisher claims the No1 and No2 games for the second week running with last weeks No2 ‘Burnout Legends’ dropping to No5, but becoming the only PSP game to feature in the All Formats Top 20 (compared to 4 last week).

Sims Get A (Night) Life

It’s a completely new 1-2-3 this week with EA debuting at No1 with Maxis’ second expansion pack to ‘The Sims 2’ on PC – ‘Nightlife’ takes No1, selling slightly more than ‘University’ (the first expansion pack, launched back in week 10 this year – but only No5 on this chart).

Ridge Racer shot down by Lockdown

The fourth instalment of Ubisoft’s tactical FPS ‘Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Lockdown’ (XB/PS2) debuts at the top of the All Formats Entertainment Chart, shooting Sony/Namco’s ‘Ridge Racer’ (PSP) down from No1 to No4.

PSP assault on charts

Sony’s new PSP console has sold an estimated 185,000 total market hardware units in its launch week, outdoing Nintendo’s DS (87,000 units at launch) to become the most successful UK console launch ever. 24 games were available at launch, the largest for any console, with 20 entering the All Formats Top 40 and 9 games breaking into the Top 10. Games were priced at £34.99 with the console itself retailing at £179.
