Amy Cleans Up

Five weeks after reaching No1 for the first time on the Album Chart, Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ returns to the top spot this week, up one place from No2 and extending her unbroken run in the Top 40 to an incredible 62 weeks.

Michael Jackson’s re-issued ‘Thriller 25’ climbs three places from No5 to No2, ahead of Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova’s ‘Once’ soundtrack at No3 and last week’s No1 Jack Johnson ‘Sleep Through The Static’ at No4. Following their success at the Meteors where they won ‘Hope For 2008’, Ham Sandwich fulfil their promise with this week’s highest new entry at No23 for their debut album ‘Carry The Meek’. There are two further new entries in this week’s Top 30: Sheryl Crow with her sixth studio album ‘Detours’ at No28 and The Feeling at No29 with their second album ‘Join With Us’. Basshunter’s ‘Now You’re Gone’ holds at No1 on the Singles Chart for a fifth week, but Duffy mounts a strong challenge, leaping from No11 to No2 on downloads of ‘Mercy’, with the CD due for release today (Friday 22nd Feb). Basshunter’s label-mate H ‘Two’ O has this week’s highest new entry at No9 with ‘What’s It Gonna Be’ (feat. Platnum), giving Hard2Beat a 100% Top 10 hit-rate with their first two releases. Kylie has the highest climber this week with ‘Wow’, up 10 places from No20 to No10 - her 25th Top 10 single in Ireland over the space of 20 years.
